Gas Station Remaster

I spent a weekend remastering An unnamed Gas Station. It’s not done yet, but it’s updated with an early version of disco tools 0.6.0 (It’s not out yet due to a pretty significant breaking change lol) and I should be able to get a lot more work done on content for it going forward.

I’m also using it as a test bed for disco tools so I’ve been pretty reliably porting disco tools tweaks and changes that I make for it back upstream, which is the origin of disco tools 0.5.0.

Disco Tools 0.5.0

I put out a new disco tools version this month. More to come.

PHP

I’m pretty much at feature completion for the Jam Website. VPS recommendations that aren’t giving bigots 3 million dollars are welcome.

Writing

Drudgery

I’ve been having to write a lot of prose for my local game design club’s AI Policy. Frankly, it is hell and I would rather write anything else. I’ve tried to write on such topics for this blog on numerous occasions and all it has resulted in is crippling depression, so I’ve been trying to create some distance. It seems the stuff will find you whether you like it or not, unless you do something about it, which is largely in line with its proprietors’ conceptions of consent as a concept.

Cyberpunk

I’ve been doing a bit of creative writing, just to throw some ideas together and see what comes of them or whether I like where they’re going. It’s quite whimsical, and actually has been relaxing.

Other art

I made some music. Nothing crazy. Probably not going to post it, just made it on a whim for a friend. Make a friend some art if you’re reading this. Good times.

Retrospective

I’ll be honest, I’m pretty tired. School has been all-consuming and I’ve been mourning open source. LLMs have eaten my artistic community alive. Small tatters have survived. Upstreams have slowly succumbed, so much to the point where one cannot reasonably use a computer unconsumed by rot. Linux cannot be forked. NetBSD and Zig hold the line. The assault on our craft has left it marred; Its song of artistry now a feeble whisper, run through by vapid, ephemeral conceptions of productivity and efficiency. But for who? And at what cost? I cannot see a cool new game, or open source project without an involuntary dose of cynicism, and that shit builds up, a pile of despair in some corner of my brain that keeps telling me that art is dead. Art is not dead. It just needs our help. So wake the fuck up, samurai. We have a city to burn.

I’ve been trying to write a cogent post about the stuff for months now. Every time I do, it eats a week and I just get more sad. Fuck it.

At least I have the new Syd Matters Album.

Plans

More Gas Station work.

Conclusion

Voy a trabajar en mi tarea o jugar fallout new vegas. No sé cualquier. Tal vez puedo ir a dormír tambien. Lo necesito.
